The first stage involves the struggle for markets between the oil industries in US and those in Russia from the 19th through the 20th centuries, when those industries were at the height of their prosperity. It may also be regarded as the struggle and the rivalry between Standard Corporation, USA and some European companies. Especially in Russia in the process of the revolution, the oil resources meant an essential source of revenue for the new government.
